As today is the 8th of March, it's International Women's Day... so Happy Birthday my ladies! Enjoy your day and I hope you received loads of flowers. For this special day I believe we deserve to treat ourselves, so I've put together the top 10 must haves for this spring. It is starting to get warmer outside (at least in London), so it is time to consider changing our wardrobe to make it more appropriate for spring. So put away the warm thick sweaters and bring on light layers. I hope you enjoy, so let's start shopping! I've put links underneath each photo for the items selected just in case you want to have a look!
1. White denim
We can see them everywhere lately, whether on their own or in an all-white outfits, which are also very popular at the moment. Also, why not try the dungarees? You may remember them from the 90s, we all used to wear them as kids.
2. Trench coat
Everyone wishes to own a Burberry trench coat - or at least I do. But there are so many affordable alternatives on the high street, have a look! What is more, you can choose from a variety of colours. Whether you prefer the classic beige, or wish to wear a navy one, you don't need to worry about not looking stylish.
3. Backpack
Don't think at the school backpacks we all used to wear in school. They can be much more fashionable. The leather ones will look very stylish and won't make your outfit sporty. They are so useful, especially when travelling as you have your hands free and don't need to worry about your bag. Just make sure you choose one that has a good closing system so that you don't have any bad surprises.
4. Culottes
Even though I wasn't a big fan when I first saw them, they have definitely stolen my heart. Seen in the sans-culotte movement during the French revolution in 1789, the type of trousers worn by the working class have become a statement item in our wardrobe now. They are the usual wide-leg trousers, but they stop just under your knee. They are extremely flattering when paired with high heels and a cropped top.
5. Sneakers
They have been 'in' for quite some time now, but it looks like we can still wear them and be fashionable. Wear them with jeans or, if you feel brave, pair them with some tailored trousers and an oversized sweater or T-shirt. Choose the white ones for this spring!
6. Gladiator sandals
Seen a lot on the catwalks in September during fashion weeks, they have made their appearance on the high street. Even though the weather is quite cold at the moment, it is worth trying some while waiting for summer because they will soon become very popular streetwear items.
Mango strap cord sandals, Zara roman sandals, Topshop lace-up sandals, River Island gladiator sandals, Aldo gladiator sandals
7. All denim
Denim dresses, shirts, flared jeans, wear them all. And not just by themselves, dare to combine! All denim looks have invaded high street stores, lookbooks online and advertising campaigns for both men and women. It takes a while to get used to seeing so much denim, but after passing that first stage, you will learn to love them.
8. Flared jeans
It's a love-hate thing! I personally love them. The first major advantage is that these jeans elongate your legs, making you look taller. Also, they can be dressed up or down according to the situation. Whether you're planning a walk in the park or a night out, choose the right shoes and accessories and you will make a great appearance.
9. Suede
I've seen various clothing items in the shops that look lovely in suede and they are quite affordable. Skirts, jackets or even trousers can add texture to your outfit and they will definitely be statement pieces in your wardrobe for a long time.
10. Shirt dresses
They were very popular in the 50s and 60s and they are back. These dresses are so comfortable for every day and look super cute with flat shoes and hats, adding a 'holiday' vibe to your outfit.
